JS Bach's individually-transmitted setting Herzlich tut mich verlangen (BWV 727) is played on the Arp Schnitger organ at St Pancratius Church in Hamburg-Neuenfelde, Germany, by York Minster's organist John Scott Whiteley.
This brief organ meditation on the Passion chorale is a miniature of absolute purity and simplicity from this amazing musical genius. The programme employs a variety of unusual filming techniques to give a dramatic interpretation of the music. These include using miniature cameras on the inside of the organ to show the mechanical works, and aerial shots from small helium-filled balloons. The titles are by Damien Hirst.
