Looking at the early pioneers of tabloid journalism, from the launch of the Daily Mail in 1896, where publisher Alfred Harmsworth wanted the paper to move away from the Victorian broadsheets, to his launch of the Daily Mirror in 1903 as a paper to appeal to women, and when this was unsuccessful, launched it as the first pictorial. The programme looks at the beginnings of coverage of celebrity stories of the day and the tabloids beginning to feature Royal stories.
