Details : When a senior Oxford don meets a couple of holidaying Americans, Miss Caroline Hartley and her companion Elinor, both women appear to be drawn to him. Period drama starring Michael Palin. [1991] In the late nineteenth century, Francis Ashby, a senior Oxford don leaves the halls of learning and travels to Switzerland for a walking break where he meets a couple of holidaying Americans, Miss Caroline Hartley and her younger companion Elinor, who she adopted many years before. Ashby soon discovers that he finds their company most agreeable, particularly that of Elinor, and when they come to pay him a visit him in Oxford it seems that both women are drawn to him.
